Earlier this week, Alexian Brothers Health System in Arlington Heights, Ill., announced Paul Belter as the new CFO, and his experience in Illinois hospitals is viewed as a plus for the system.
Mr. Belter will take over for James Sances, who retired after 31 years of service with ABHS, which is now part of St. Louis-based Ascension Health. Before this role, Mr. Belter served as regional vice president and CFO of Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Ill., and Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, Ill. — both of which are part of the newly formed Presence Health in Chicago.
Mr. Belter also has healthcare financial experience at three Ascension organizations in New York. He was CFO of Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center in Lewiston, N.Y., CFO of Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., and vice president of financial operations for Catholic Health System, also in Buffalo.
"With a strong background in areas as diverse as auditing, financial planning, strategic capital finance and long-term care facilities for seniors, Paul is an ideal fit for Alexian Brothers Health System," ABHS President and CEO Mark Frey said in a news release. "His understanding of the Chicago metropolitan market and Ascension Health is certainly value added."
