CFO Janice Burnett: Centralizing Strategy at Bon Secours Health System

CFO Janice Burnett oversees financial strategy at Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours Health System as the system aims to convert its holding company model into a more centralized system for its facilities spanning six states.

Jancie Burnett is CFO of Bon Secours Health System.The 19- hospital system — which includes its owned and joint venture hospitals — took in $3.2 billion in patient revenue in fiscal year 2012, according to Moody's Investors Service, which assigned an "A3" rating to $900 million in debt in December 2012. Bon Secours' operating cash flow margin has grown 1.5 percentage points between FY 2011 and FY 2012 to 8.8 percent. Key to its centralization initiative is its large-scale IT infrastructure known as ConnectCare that is being installed across the system.

Ms. Burnett came to Bon Secours in 2007 as vice president of operations finance, rising to CFO in March 2012. Previously, she was senior director of strategic finance and operations with St. Louis-based Ascension Health, the largest Catholic health system in the U.S. She also held financial leadership roles within St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare.

Ms. Burnett, a CPA, served in the U.S. Air Force before her career in hospital finance. She holds a bachelor's degree from Wright State University and an MBA from Maryville University.
