Sandra Bruce, FACHE, has served as president and CEO of Chicago-based Presence Health since it formed from the merger of Resurrection Health Care and Provena Health in November 2011.
Prior to becoming CEO of the new health system, Ms. Bruce served as president and CEO of Resurrection Health Care, a position she took in November 2008. As Resurrection's leader, Ms. Bruce was responsible for its substantial financial turnaround. She helped develop a new strategic plan, implemented initiatives to make the organization more costeffective and encouraged physician involvement by placing medical staff members into leadership roles.
Ms. Bruce recently announced that Presence Health plans on establishing its corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago. "We are excited about the benefits of bringing together our executives and support staff into one downtown location," Ms. Bruce told NBC Chicago in October. "A downtown location is central to the agencies and businesses with whom we frequently interact and furthers our goals to provide broader access to community healthcare."
Ms. Bruce is a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators and the American Society for Aging. She is a past chair of the board of trustees of the Catholic Health Association of the United States, the Michigan Health and Hospital Association and the Idaho Hospital Association.
