Michael Fisher has served as president and CEO of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center since January 2010.
Mr. Fisher does not have a traditional background in healthcare. He started his career as a principal in his family's business, the Fisher Investment Group. He has also served as CEO of Premier Manufacturing Support Services and president of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.
Mr. Fisher first became involved with Cincinnati Children's by serving on the hospital's board of trustees. He served on the board for five years, and was involved in multiple committees during that time. Mr. Fisher served on the patient care committee and was also a member of the nominating and governing, elective and compensation committees. Additionally, he chaired the technology and legal affairs committees.
After five years on the board of trustees, Mr. Fisher was appointed as president and CEO of the hospital. "I have been inspired by the vision, mission and culture of Cincinnati Children's," Mr. Fisher said after his appointment. "I believe all my professional experience has been preparing me for this opportunity to make a big contribution here."
And Mr. Fisher has made a big contribution at the hospital. Since he took control in 2010, Cincinnati Children's has received a myriad of awards and recognitions. In 2012, U.S. News & World Report ranked Cincinnati Children's in the top three of best children's hospitals in the nation. The hospital was also included on the Leapfrog Group's class of top hospitals, one of only 12 dedicated children's hospitals to make the list.
