David Bleakney, MBA, has served as CEO and hospital administrator of Angleton (Texas) Danbury Medical Center since December 1993. His nearly 20 years at the helm of Angleton Danbury make him one of the longest-tenured hospital CEOs in the country.
In his more than 30 years of healthcare experience, Mr. Bleakney has led various adult, pediatric and long-term acute-care facilities in Florida and Texas.
Mr. Bleakney has accomplished many things as the longtime leader of 64-bed Angleton Danbury Medical Center. For example, he reduced administrative overhead expenses by 15 percent. He also has led several hospital renovations and expansions. In 2006, Mr. Bleakney oversaw the completion of a new women's unit and the expansion of the hospital's emergency department. He also planned, developed and oversaw the hospital's outpatient surgical and cardiac care center in 1999.
Outside of his commitment to Angleton Danbury Medical Center, Mr. Bleakney gives his time to the healthcare and local community. During his career, he has been affiliated with the Texas Hospital Association, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Academy of Medical Administrators. In the local community, Mr. Bleakney has given time to organizations such as the Angleton Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Angleton and the United Way of Brazoria County, among others.
Mr. Bleakney earned his MBA from the Crummer School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.
