Vanderbilt University Medical Center to switch to Epic EHR from McKesson

Over the next two years, Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., plans to implement Epic's EHR system, reports The Tennessean.

The hospital currently uses McKesson's EHR, but McKesson is discontinuing its Horizon platform in 2018, which is why the hospital was looking for a new solution, according to the report.

VUMC currently uses Epic's solutions for registration and outpatient billing. The new EHR will streamline all patient data into one system.

The go-live date is scheduled for early 2018.
