Around 29 percent of healthcare organizations indicated that they conduct precision medicine, according to the 2016 Essentials Brief: Precision Medicine Study, conducted by HIMSS Analytics.
The survey includes responses from 137 healthcare organizations, including academic medical centers, multi-hospital health systems and specialty hospitals.
Here are the four most common areas in which organizations are conducting precision medicine:
• Cancer: 79.5 percent
• Neurology: 38.5 percent
• Prenatal screening: 30.8 percent
• Cardiology: 28.2 percent
Note: Organizations were given a list of specialties and asked to select all that apply.
