The Federation of State Medical Boards has released the 2016 State Medical Board Survey, which includes responses from 57 of the 70 state medical and osteopathic boards in the United States.
Telemedicine was ranked as an important regulatory topic for the largest number of state medical boards. When asked to choose five of the most important regulatory topics from a list of 15, 75 percent of boards included telemedicine, demonstrating the range of digital health's impact this year.
Other topics listed as top regulatory considerations in 2016 were resources related to opioid prescribing, the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, physician reentry into practice and medical marijuana.
