Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare is partnering with health IT company Ciox to launch a tool that allows expecting and new mothers to access their medical records.
The collaboration on the Ciox Patient Request Tool comes after an executive order from the White House called for new ways to automate the patient experience. The tool uses an expecting mother's due date to project healthcare service dates, according to a Jan. 24 Ciox news release.
"Our partnership with Ciox enables Sentara to improve access to digital information for obstetric patients, which is improving patient care and outcomes," Marion Swaim, Sentara vice president of health information management, said. "The pilot with Ciox, under a White House executive order, reflects progress in reinventing health care for the benefit of patients."
