Cellular One has partnered with iSelectMD and the Competitive Carriers Association to offer rural customers in Texas and Louisiana with real-time access to a clinician for non-emergent medical issues.
For a $29.99 fee, Cellular One customers can use the new iSelectMD Mobile service to connect with a physician using their mobile device to ask health-related questions or to seek guidance on a variety of health issues.
"We are delighted to partner with iSelectMD for this extremely valuable service for our customers," said Jonathan Foxman, president and CEO of Cellular One, in a news release. "Cellular One customers can now access care in real time and reduce or eliminate unnecessary costs and travel when their primary care physician is unavailable. And thanks to the cooperation of iSelectMD and CCA, this program is the first of its kind to be offered to wireless customers in the United States."
Like many CCA members, Cellular One, a regional wireless carrier, is facing stiff competition from national wireless carriers like Verizon and AT&T. This first foray into telehealth services is seen by CCA as a way to compete with the bigger companies.
"Having access to unique programs such as iSelectMD Mobile presents a real, very positive benefit for CCA members," said CCA President and CEO Steven K. Berry in the news release. "Solutions like the mHealth program are a win-win for carriers and their customers."
