Risant Health will drive new tech adoption at Geisinger, CEO says

Jaewon Ryu, MD, president and CEO of Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health, said Risant Health, the new nonprofit organization created by Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, will give the organization more opportunity to invest in AI and machine learning, AMA Update reported July 10.

Mr. Ryu said next-gen analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital tools and technologies give physicians and care teams the opportunity to do their work better, as well as help them "identify the kinds of populations and the segments of that population that need targeted programs." With this, he believes Risant Health's model will give the organization more opportunities to invest in them.

"Being able to invest in them, it requires quite a bit of wherewithal and scale," Mr. Ryu said. "And we think this model affords us exactly that."

Risant Health, which was first announced April 26, aims to expand and accelerate the adoption of value-based care in "diverse, multi-payer, multi-provider, community-based health system environments."

Geisinger is the first to join Risant.
