Providers increasingly expect outpatient pharmacy systems to provide additional revenue and meaningful use benefits, but finding the best system for a given organization can be a challenge, according to a new report by KLAS.
The demand for outpatient pharmacy systems runs high as accountable care organizations loom on the horizon. The report identified several obstacles complicating providers' search for an outpatient pharmacy system. First, though numerous options exist, few are widely implemented in the health system setting. This makes it difficult for providers to identify a comparable site to reference as they consider their options.
Further, the larger an organization is, the more complex its needs will be, and the harder it will be for a vendor to fulfill those needs, according to the report. The reverse is also true: Systems targeting larger organizations may not be suitable for smaller ones, according to the news release.
