In a recent post to the reSOURCEs section of its public website, HealthTrust focuses on medical devices and their potential threat to cybersecurity.
While there have been no actual cases of cyber attacks to date, there is currently a federal investigation that includes an infusion pump and heart devices.
According to the post, there can be different types of flaws that can impact medical devices and equipment, even in unexpected ways.
The flaws and gaps begin at the manufacturer level and continue to hospital implementation and access.
If a hacker was able to access a medical device's information, the patient is not the only one in harm's way. The hacker could access the hospital database through this vulnerable portal.
