Health IT systems vendor NextGen and its sister IT firm Mirth have announced the launch of a platform that will allow clients to connect with external organizations and exchange patient information using Direct messaging technology.
The platform, NextGen Share, is a Health Information Service Provider that uses ONC-approved information standards to facilitate data exchange. It is designed to help providers meet the care coordination requirements of meaningful use stage 2.
"By combining a robust electronic health record solution with first-class interoperability tools, we have developed the necessary tool to enable clients to easily communicate and share important clinical information via a secure and integrated messaging service with any provider," said Michael Lovett, executive vice president and general manager for NextGen Healthcare, in the news release. "With increased competition and care quality and reimbursement at stake, it is imperative that healthcare organizations make the right choices in supportive technology and with the launch of NextGen Share, we are pleased to be on the leading-edge of innovation."
