Charleston, S.C.-based the Medical University of South Carolina is using remote technology to expand access to MRI's with the aim of cutting down patients' travel times and expenses, Live 5 News reported May 19.
The organization is using Syngo Virtual Cockpit, which allows patients to go to other healthcare locations for advanced MRIs while a technician from MUSC operates the scan remotely.
According to MUSC, with this new technology, it can scan up to six patients a day.
