Movers and shakers: 12 latest leadership changes affecting health IT

Becker's Hospital Review reported the following health IT executive moves recently affecting hospitals, companies and federal agencies.

1. Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health selected Robert Diamond to serve as senior vice president and CIO.

2. Brad Smith, co-founder of health startup Aspire Health, was chosen to head up the CMS Innovation Center.

3. Mayo Clinic appointed Rita Khan to serve as the Rochester, Minn.-based health system's chief digital officer, a newly created role in which she will lead the launch of a new center for digital health.

4. American Medical Informatics Association President and CEO Douglas Fridsma, MD, PhD, left his post on Jan. 1.

5. Jason Hallock, MD, will serve as the new CMO at SOC Telemed.

6. Walgreens hired former Athenahealth CMO Kevin Ban, MD, to serve as its new CMO.

7. Lara Jehi, MD, was selected to serve as the first chief research information officer for Cleveland Clinic.

8. Vindell Washington, MD, has joined Verily as chief clinical officer of the Google sister company's health platforms team.

9. CareMESH, a patient data exchange platform, welcomed Ed Marx, former CIO at Cleveland Clinic, to its board of advisors.

10. Deepak Ahuja, who previously served as CFO of Tesla, is the newest executive to join Verily, Alphabet's healthcare and life sciences division.

11. Jonathan Ringo, MD, will step down from his position as president of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and Grace Medical Center later this year to launch a new telemedicine company.

12. Amazon plans to add Vin Gupta, MD, as principal scientist to its Amazon Care team this month.
