McKesson profit rises 43% in Q1 2016

It was a profitable quarter for San Francisco-based McKesson.

The company's profit for Q1 2016, ended June 30, 2015, totaled $576 million, a 43 percent increase from the $403 million posted for the same time period last year.

Additionally, McKesson posted $47.5 billion in revenue for the quarter, up 9 percent from $43.5 billion a year ago.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, McKesson has benefited from the sale of two hepatitis C drugs, Gilead Sciences' Sovaldi and Harvoni, which have been two of the most successful drug launches in history.
