Hitch Health, Roundtrip partner to offer comprehensive medical transportation

Minneapolis-based Hitch Health and Philadelphia-based Roundtrip announced Aug. 22 a partnership to develop a non-emergency medical transportation solution featuring automated scheduling and increased accessibility.

The collaboration, expected to go live in the fourth quarter of this year, will combine Roundtrip's accessible ride-booking marketplace software — which allows for scheduling of wheelchair vans, stretcher vehicles, basic life support or advanced life support ambulances and more — with Hitch Health's own transportation technology, which connects to providers' electronic appointment records to proactively identify patients in need of rides.

Together, the two systems will ensure that all patients in need of alternate transportation to a medical appointment can get it, no matter their mobility level. Additionally, frontline staff will no longer have to manage scheduling: after identifying a patient in need of transport to upcoming appointments, Hitch Health's software automatically offers them a ride via text message.

"Integrating with Roundtrip allows us to create even better coordination solutions for patients in need and healthcare workers, and results in significant cost savings for healthcare systems and clinics," Sara Russick, Hitch Health CEO, said in a statement.
