HHS is seeking comments from stakeholders regarding elements to be included in a risk-based regulatory framework for health IT and mobile medical applications, according to an AHA News Now report.
The Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act requires the FDA, in consultation with the Federal Communications Commission and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, to develop a strategy and recommendations for a framework to promote innovation and protect patient safety. HHS and FCC also formed a workgroup earlier this year to advise on the issue.
HHS will accept comments through Aug. 31, according to the report.
