HHS, HITRUST to Offer Cybersecurity Briefings, Alerts

HHS has partnered with the Health Information Trust Alliance to offer monthly cybersecurity briefings to the healthcare community, as well as issue industrywide alerts when HITRUST identifies a high probability of a healthcare-related cyberattack.

The briefings will be focused on helping healthcare organizations understand threats to their cybersecurity and will provide a forum for sharing best practices and advice. The briefings will be free for participants.

"Collaboration is crucial to reducing cyber threats for the entire healthcare industry, including the government," said Kevin Charest, HHS' chief information security officer, in a news release. "These briefings and alerts allow us to better disseminate valuable and critical information to healthcare organizations more effectively so they can better prepare and respond to cyber threats and events."

The briefings will be supplemented by the real-time alerts from HITRUST's Cyber Threat Intelligence and Incident Coordination Center.

"The healthcare industry now has access to many resources in order to prepare and respond to cyber threats and events, such as the C3 Monthly Briefings, C3 Alerts, C3 threat intelligence and incident coordination," said Daniel Nutkis, CEO of HITRUST, in the news release.
