Health tech firm Inovalon to cut 113 workers

Inovalon, a Bowie, Md.-based health technology company, plans to eliminate 113 employees by July 10, according to a filing with the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation and reported by Baltimore Business Journal.

The layoffs will comprise "nationwide field-based employees who are supervised by the Columbia [Md.] office," Inovalon spokeswomen Kim Collins told Baltimore Business Journal via email. She added Inovalon tends to hire seasonal workers, which leads to regular changes in employment numbers.

Baltimore Business Journal reports federal filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission showed Inovalon has 2,453 total employees, 1,908 of whom are full-time, as of year-end 2016. This marks a 870 employee decrease since one year prior, in 2015.

Inovalon reported $108.3 million in revenue for the first quarter, up 5.5 percent, Baltimore Business Journal reports.
