The University of Chicago Physicians Group has announced a data breach at a former vendor, compromising the information of up to 1,344 UCPG patients.
According to an NBC Chicago report, a hacker accessed the records housed at Tinley Park, Ill.-based ICS Collection Service, a vendor previously used by the physician group to collect past-due payments.
While neither ICS nor UCPG is aware of any misuse involving the data, both entities have sent letters to affected patients including identity management resources.
