Google to cut exec bonuses

Google plans to reduce executive bonuses, according to The Wall Street Journal.

CEO Sundar Pichai told employees Jan. 23 that senior-vice president level and above executives would have lower bonuses this year. The company is exercising multiple cost-cutting measures, including mass layoffs.

"Over the past two years we've seen periods of dramatic growth. To match and fuel that growth, we hired for a different economic reality than the one we face today," said Mr. Pichai in a message to employees sent Jan. 20.

Vice president level employees could make $550,000 at Google plus bonuses, equity and benefits, according to the report.
