Garden City (Mich.) Hospital has signed a partnership agreement to join East Lansing, Mich.-based Great Lakes Health Information Exchange.
Garden City Hospital will be able to safely and securely share patient electronic medical records with physicians, labs, hospitals and other healthcare systems in the GLHIE network, according to the release. Currently, 10 hospitals and 4,500 healthcare providers throughout Michigan participate in or are committed to participating in the GLHIE network. Organizations that join GLHIE maintain control and ownership of their data, but the data is accessible to participants in the network.
According to the release, work on Garden City Hospital's infrastructure for participation in the GLHIE network will begin in November.
