Epic has the largest overall market share (10.8 percent) in the electronic health record market for physicians and has dominated the large-practice market, according to a recent report from SK&A.
Almost half (47.7 percent) of practices with more than 40 physicians use an Epic EHR system. By comparison, the next largest players in the large-practice EHR market, General Electric and Allscripts, have 11.9 percent and 10.1 percent of the market, respectively.
eClinicalWorks has the second-largest overall market share (10 percent) in the physician EHR market. This vendor is strongest among smaller practices — 10.5 percent of practices with one to three physicians and 8.7 percent of practices with four to 10 physicians use eClinicalWorks.
