Arlington Heights, Ill.-based Alexian Brothers Health System has paused progress on its Medicaid program development, citing difficulties with connecting electronic health records across the system, according to a Crain's Chicago Business report.
Alexian Brothers was planning on rolling out an accountable care entity for 46,000 patients on Medicaid from several partners, including nonprofit clinics, community clinics and independent physicians. However, facilities are using a variety of EHR providers and encountered difficulties in trying to share information across the different platforms, according to the report. Approximately 80 percent of the physicians in the ACE network were using approximately 10 different EHR systems, according to Don Franke, Alexian vice president of clinical integration.
The health system was scheduled to launch July 1.
