A physician practice affiliated with Bangor-based Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems has notified 1,200 patients that their email addresses were accidentally exposed, according to a Bangor Daily News report.
EMMC Family Medicine had sent an email invitation to patients to fill out a survey to gather feedback about its new medical records portal. Patients who received the email were able to see the email addresses of all other patents to whom the survey invitation had been sent, according to the report.
Additionally, when EMHS sent a second email to survey invitees disclosing the exposure, the email addresses may have once again been made available, according to the report.
No personal health or financial information was compromised. EMHS is reviewing whether the email disclosure violated any federal regulations, according to the report.
