The American Health Information Management Association appointed Wylecia Wiggs Harris, PhD, CEO, effective Feb. 5.
Dr. Harris most recently served as CEO of the League of Women Voters of the United States and the League of Women Voters Education Fund. She previously worked in senior leadership roles at the American Nurses Association, including serving as COO. She has also served as senior vice president and executive director at the American Heart Association.
Dr. Harris earned her PhD in organizational development from Capella University in Minneapolis. She also holds a master of management degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
"The AHIMA Board of Directors sought an executive with experience leading associations with multi-million dollar operating budgets, and we look forward to working with Dr. Harris to be a powerful voice and advocate for AHIMA and the health information management profession," said Diann H. Smith, AHIMA's board president/chair.
