A contractor for the now-defunct exchange Hawaii Health Connector is awaiting word from the state government, which now runs Hawaii Health Connector, on what to do with the personal health information it still holds, reports Pacific Business News.
CGI Technologies and Solutions has requested guidance on how to deliver or destroy the information, but has not yet received any instruction from the state.
"Despite our numerous requests, and the importance and sensitivity of such data, we have not yet received instruction from the state of Hawaii or the Hawaii Health Connector with regard to disposition of the protected health information," Eric McFadden, vice president and general counsel of CGI Technologies and Solutions, wrote in a letter to the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. "CGI has no interest in holding on to such sensitive data given that our contract with the Hawaii Health Connector ended in December 2015."
Laurel Johnston, deputy chief of staff for Hawaii Gov. David Ige, told Pacific Business News she could not speak on behalf of Hawaii Health Connector before the entity dissolved, and she can't comment on it now that a receiver has been appointed to handle any remaining assets.
