White Plains (N.Y.) Hospital has reported a data breach after an employee for the hospital's contracted medical billing company illegally copied and disclosed patient data, according to a CBS New York report.
The breach is related to the one reported by Pittsburgh-based UPMC earlier this week. A call center employee for Medical Management copied patient information, including names, birth dates and Social Security numbers, and gave that information to a third party.
According to the CBS report, other New York hospitals have also been breached by this incident.
The employee has been fired from MML.
White Plains Hospital could not be immediately reached for comment.
