Ninety-eight percent of laid-off staff from Oracle Health, who were conducting health information technology operations for Springfield, Mo.-based CoxHealth, have accepted new job offers with the health system.
Since 2012, CoxHealth has outsourced its IT operations to Cerner, now known as Oracle Health. But the health system recently made the decision to end the partnership and bring its IT operations back in-house.
This move caused Oracle Health to lay off 124 individuals who were conducting health information technology operations for CoxHealth.
CoxHealth extended offers to all the employees affected by the layoff and told Becker's "the overwhelming majority (98 percent) of employees who received the offer to come in-house have accepted."
The health system said the decision to end the IT relationship with Oracle Health was not motivated by its move to a new EHR system; rather, it was driven by wanting to internalize IT operations.
CoxHealth told Becker's the change will not affect the employees' day-to-day work, as they are already integrated into its system.
