Conemaugh Health System completes $50M Epic overhaul

After two years of planning, the Pennsylvania-based Conemaugh Health System has completed a $50 million overhaul of its record system, according to the Tribune-Democrat.

The new EHR system, run by Epic, encompasses medical records, insurance billing and X-ray information. Physicians will be able to view patient records through wireless devices, including smartphones. The system went live Oct. 22, and since Oct. 21, around 250 support team members have staffed Conemaugh Health System locations to provide assistance.

Support team members include employees from Epic Systems and select Conemaugh Health System staff who underwent training the preceding months. Claudia Rager, vice president of Patient Care Service, told the Tribune-Democrat that this team will continue to assist employees transition to the EHR system for the next two weeks.
