CMS has announced that the deadline for eligible professionals to submit eligibility appeals under the Medicare Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs' 2011 payment year has been extended until April 30, 2012.
The deadline extension gives EPs an extra month to file appeals.
CMS offers a two-level appeal process — an informal review and a request for reconsideration. Within the process, there are three types of appeals that can be filed: eligibility, meaningful use and incentive payment appeals.
