In 2013, Pravene Nath, MD, was named CIO of Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Health Care, previously Stanford Hospital & Clinics.
At the time of his appointment, Dr. Nath had been serving as interim CIO and previously was CMIO.
As a physician, Dr. Nath combines his focus on patient safety and clinical quality by using health IT. He is board-certified in emergency medicine.
Under his leadership, Stanford Health Care has gone paperless and has earned national recognition for IT adoption. In 2014, the hospital received Hospitals & Health Networks magazine's Most Wired Award for being among the top 100 hospitals making the most progress in adopting health IT. In 2013, Stanford Health Care received the HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 award.
