Cloud-based health IT vendor athenahealth's new accelerator is currently accepting applications.
The More Disruption Please Accelerator is designed to support early-stage startups. Selected companies will receive funding, mentorship, office space and access to athenhealth's application programming interface and the 55,000 healthcare providers currently in the company's customer network.
In June, the accelerator took on its first company, Smart Scheduling. The accelerator is now expanding and will bring in more companies from this first round of applications.
"More Disruption Please is taking the next step in its evolution, bringing entrepreneurialism to healthcare through a tailored program that offers portfolio companies customized resources and programming to meet their individual needs," said Kyle Armbrester, vice president of business development at athenahealth. "With the Accelerator, athenahealth is deepening its commitment to creating a robust market for open healthcare technology — something doctors and patients demand to improve the quality of care."
