Peoria, Ill.-based OSF Healthcare has found that it's been easy to get providers on board with generative artificial intelligence.
Tyler Fitch, MD, director of medical informatics who also co-chairs the OSF generative AI exploration and planning committee, reports no difficulties in persuading providers to embrace generative AI.
“I'm also hearing from our physician recruiting department that we're getting asked about what kind of tools we have here. So, this is really an area that people are seeking out. From a physician standpoint, the change management is going to be a little bit easier than some of the other things we’ve done in the technology area," he said in a July 18 news release from OSF.
One generative AI initiative in the works is embedding Microsoft Copilot into the tools that staff use every day. This integration, according to the release, will feature an internally developed app named Prompt Buddy tha employees to share effective prompts for streamlining their tasks.
With this initiative, Dr. Fitch says he believes OSF HealthCare is farther ahead than many health systems when it comes to navigating the benefits and developing guardrails for generative AI.
