AHA-supported bill would help hospitals meet 2015 MU requirements

Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.) reintroduced a bill that would provide hospitals more flexibility in meaningful use, helping hospitals attest and meet FY 2015 EHR requirements.

The bill, the Flexibility in Health IT Reporting Act, would shorten the 2015 reporting period to one quarter of the year instead of the current year-long reporting required by CMS for the EHR Incentive Program.

"We need to be practical and responsible in terms of implementation timetables," said AHA executive vice president Rick Pollack. "That's why hospitals need flexibility. This legislation is a positive first step toward ensuring the program is a success, and America's hospitals look forward to working to achieve its passage."
