HHS will launch an investigation into a data breach at Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care that compromised the information of 4 million patients, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
"Since 2009, we have had a track record of taking a number of very high-profile actions that have sent clear messages to the industry that we expect full compliance with [data] privacy and security rules," said HHS spokeswoman Rachel Seeger in the report.
The Advocate breach is the second-largest loss of patient health information reported to HHS since 2009, when a mandatory notification rule was put into place, according to the report.
