A majority of healthcare organizations (95 percent) said they do not use any software for security governance of risk management, according to a 2017 IT Risks Report.
The survey, conducted by Netwrix, asked IT officials at 723 organizations spanning more than 30 industries across the globe — 11 percent from the healthcare sector — about their organization's security practices and plans.
Here are five survey insights into the healthcare sector.
1. Thirty-one percent of organizations claim to be well prepared in an IT emergency.
2. Fifty-six percent of healthcare organizations believe employees are the biggest threat to system availability and security, and 47 percent of respondents said their organization experienced a security incident caused by human error.
3. Fifty-nine percent of organizations have experienced malware.
4. Healthcare organizations say budget (75 percent), time (75 percent) and appropriate participation by senior management (44 percent) hinder their ability to manage cyber risks.
5. Fifty-six percent of healthcare organizations plan to invest in security solutions to mitigate their risk of facing a data breach.
