The number of mergers and acquisitions in the health IT and pharmaceutical information spaces continues to grow. In 2015, there were 446 M&A transactions in health IT and pharmaceuticals, reaching a total value of $17 billion, according to a trend report from Berkery Noyes.
Here are four trends from health IT and pharmaceutical M&As in 2015.
1. The 446 transactions in 2015 is a 15 percent increase over the 387 transactions in 2014.
2. Additionally, the $17 billion total transaction value in 2015 is a 4 percent increase from 2014's $16 billion.
3. Among analyzed segments, health IT had the most transactions in 2015, with more than 200. Second to health IT is healthcare business services, with just under 100 transactions.
4. The largest transaction in 2015 was Pamplona's $2.77 billion acquisition of MedAssets.
