Hospitals and health systems are increasingly turning to virtual nursing as a way to combat the nursing workforce shortage. Here are three hospitals and health systems who are expanding or launching virtual nursing programs:
- Spokane, Wash.-based MultiCare Deaconess Hospital is looking to expand its virtual nursing program to 64 additional rooms by fall, as well as into medical oncology, then complicated surgery units by October.
- West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health expanded its virtual nursing program to 10 hospitals and 40 inpatient units.
- Stafford (Va.) Hospital rolled out its virtual nursing program in May and is looking to have 13 virtual nurses on staff by mid-August.
