Burning Glass Technologies, a job market analytics company, reported that there were 1.7 million job postings from December 2019 through November 2020 for disruptive tech skills.
The company also projected growth for 10 tech skill areas over the next five years and calculated the current average salary premium:
1. Quantum computing: 135 percent growth and $4,204 average salary premium
2. Connected technologies: 104 percent growth and $10,873 average salary premium
3. Fintech: 96 percent growth and $13,799 average salary premium
4. Artificial intelligence and machine learning: 71 percent growth and $14,175 average salary premium
5. IT automation: 59 percent growth and $24,969 average salary premium
6. Natural language processing: 41 percent growth and $6,368 average salary premium
7. Proactive security: 39 percent growth and $8,851 average salary premium
8. Software development methodologies: 35 percent growth and $13,762 average salary premium
9. Cloud technologies: 28 percent growth and $10,588 average salary premium
10. Parallel computing: 17 percent growth and $7,797 average salary premium
