For state fiscal year 2023, 29 states increased inpatient hospital Medicaid rates, 25 increased outpatient rates and 27 increased physician rates, according to data from KFF's annual State Medicaid Budget Surveys published in November.
State fiscal year 2023 for most states ran from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. Florida, Minnesota and South Carolina did not participate in KFF's surveys. Rate increases do not include required changes mandated across states. Medicaid managed care organization's rate changes are not included.
