Turnarounds for OhioHealth hospitals on track: 3 things to know

Officials at Columbus-based OhioHealth said turnarounds in patient volume and finances are on schedule for its acquired O'Bleness Hospital in Athens, Ohio, Mansfield (Ohio) Hospital and Shelby (Ohio) Hospital, according to a Columbus Business First report.

Here are three things to know about the turnarounds.

1. The hospitals experienced operating losses in the 2015 fiscal year ended June 30, the first full fiscal year since OhioHealth acquired the hospitals. According to the report, O'Bleness had a $2.6 million loss on $104 million revenue and Mansfield/Shelby a narrow $1.4 million loss on $283 million revenue.

2. This fiscal year, O'Bleness is off to a better start, and Mansfield and Shelby are meeting expectations, OhioHealth CFO Vinson Yates told Columbus Business First.

3. OhioHealth expects to reap benefits from the $80 million surgical and medical office expansion that opened on the Mansfield campus this month, including a new parking garage and community wellness and education center, according to Columbus Business First.
