A new Buffalo, N.Y.-based company, Healthcare Compliance Support, seeks to help healthcare providers navigate the increasingly complex system of regulations governing areas such as patient privacy, financial records and operations, according to a Buffalo Business First report.
The company was founded in 2015 by Robert Trusiak, a former assistant U.S. attorney who at that time was Buffalo-based Kaleida Health's chief compliance officer, and Barry Swartz, former CEO at Sheridan PaySource. The team includes Val Cronin, a Buffalo-based healthcare consultant, and a medical coding expert.
"It's so fast-paced the way this area is changing, there's a need for this type of business," Mr. Swartz said, according to Buffalo Business First. "When I was a healthcare administrator there was no single resource where I could go to ask questions and receive guidance. It was learn as you go."
The company's services include compliance training and education to board members, health system clinical and financial leaders and all relevant employees; HIPAA security risk analysis; and coding and billing reviews.
