Mission Hospital's pulmonary division had the highest percentage of readmissions and revenue from super utilizers in 2016, according to an analysis conducted by Dexur.com.
For the analysis, researchers assessed CMS claims data on the Asheville, N.C.-based hospital's Medicare inpatient super utilizers for that calendar year.
Here are four findings from the analysis.
1. Researchers determined super utilizers contributed 43 percent to Mission Hospital's total readmission rate.
2. The pulmonary division had the highest percentage of readmissions from super utilizers (55 percent), compared to the orthopedics division (29 percent) and the cardiovascular division (44 percent).
3. Researchers determined super utilizers contributed 16 percent to the hospital's total discharge rate and 17 percent to the hospital's total revenue.
4. The pulmonary division also had the highest percentage of revenue from super utilizers (25 percent), compared to the orthopedics division (8 percent) and the cardiovascular division (15 percent).
