Seattle Children's gets $20M gift from former Microsoft CEO

Seattle Children's Hospital received a $20 million donation from former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and his wife Connie Ballmer.

The gift will support the hospital's Odessa Brown Children's Clinic, a community clinic committed to delivering health and wellness care to low-income and minority children. The clinic offers a wide range of services, including medical, dental, mental health and nutrition.

Including the gift from Mr. Ballmer and his wife, the clinic has raised nearly $90 million through its "It Starts With Yes Campaign." Hospital officials aim to raise $125 million for the clinic by 2021.

"We are incredibly grateful to the commitment that these donors have made to bring quality care to all children and their families in the community," said Benjamin Danielson, MD, senior medical director of the Odessa Brown Children's Clinic. "They understand the need and are stepping forward to ensure every child has a medical home and is able to have the healthiest and most fulfilling life possible."

In July, Seattle Children's announced plans to open a second Odessa Brown clinic. Construction is expected to begin in 2019.
