As of Jan. 8, Ellwood City (Pa.) Hospital's employees had not received their paychecks due Jan. 4, according to The Times.
This is at least the ninth time since August the hospital, owned and managed by Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Americore, has missed payroll, according to the report. Most recently, the hospital failed to issue paychecks due Dec. 21 until Jan. 4.
An investigator from the U.S. Department of Labor and Industry was at Ellwood City Hospital Jan. 7 to question leaders about the payroll issues. Pennsylvania Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-Ellwood City, attended a portion of the meetings. He also sent a letter to the local district attorney requesting a criminal investigation into the situation, according to the report.
Americore did not respond to The Times' request for comment.
