Peoria, Ill.-based OSF Healthcare saw its operating performance improve in the 12 months ended Sept. 30, but ended the year with a lower net income than 2018, according to unaudited financial documents.
The nonprofit healthcare corporation reported that its operating income increased to $88 million in fiscal year 2019, up from $72 million the same period a year prior.
OSF Healthcare's total revenue climbed to $3.06 billion in fiscal year 2019, up from the $2.83 billion earned in fiscal year 2018.
The revenue increase was partially attributed to more outpatient and emergency room visits at the system's 13 hospitals, which saw 1.75 million outpatient visits and 321,675 emergency room visits in the year ended Sept. 30.
Expenses increased in fiscal year 2019 to $2.97 billion, up from $2.75 billion one year prior.
After including nonoperating activity, OSF Healthcare saw its net income fall 18 percent year-over-year from $155.4 million in fiscal year 2018 to $127.2 million in fiscal year 2019.
