Ohio hospitals provided $3.1 billion in community benefit in 2010, $200 million more than the previous year, according to the Ohio Hospital Association.
The 167 hospitals and 19 health systems affiliated with the hospital association contributed a total of $1.04 billion in charity care, $1.3 billion in lost Medicaid reimbursement and $1.4 billion in community activities and programming.
Additionally, the hospitals contributed $68.2 billion and nearly 610,000 jobs to Ohio's economy in 2010.
